Snow Division is a film about the making of a giant snow sculpture by the Japanese Self-Defense Force for the Sapporo Snow Festival.
It shows the army, that is rather associated with defense and destruction, than with creativity, creating a sculpture for the joy of the citizens as a productive collective. The sculpture pictures a group of endangered species, symbolizing a disappearing beauty, like the snow that melts after a few days.
